THE POWER OF DIALOGUE

The Oxford advanced learners English dictionary sees "dialogue" as a spoken or written conversation or talk; or a discussion between people in which opinions are exchanged.

I, personally see "dialogue" as a discussion between two or more persons (or groups), where each expresses himself/herself about an issue in other to make judgement, settlements and conclusions more easier.

It is obvious that troubles like quarrels, fights, killings, hatred, heart-breaks, sessesion, divorce, quit notices, coups etc are obtainable or exists in the society today; even in our various families, relationships, churches, decision making, between landlords and tenants, communities, countries etc but when they are properly addressed (through dialogue), there will be peace.

Furthermore, do you know that there are families that are not living in peace today? This might be as a result of polygamy, quarrels between husband and wife (or children), transferred agressions, poverty, mistakes, misunderstanding etc.

Do you also know that with the use of "dialogue", these problems can be addressed and solved? This is achieved by tabling of the case, through discussions, without any external person ( and not in the court). This gives room for each person to express his or her grievances, after everybody's expression, the mistakes are detected and corrected. Understanding, peace etc now take over.

It is also very important for us to know that our understanding varies i.e. every human being has a different way of reasoning (even identical twins). So, on the process of dialogue, we have to bear it in mind, and accomodate everybody. When the spirit is calmed, and heads are put together, things work out well for those who believe in Christ Jesus.

In summary, dialogue is a very nice tool for the prevention and fight against majority of the problems and obstacles we encounter with our fellow human beings and in our day-to-day activities. It is also by the grace of God and it's tactical application, that we can be able to answer "victors" in all our "vitimized" conditions. When invited, welcomed and treated well (applied well) it helps us achieve our expected results, by kicking out all the unwanted elements.

So as we celebrate this christmas season, lets endeavour to reconcile with whosoever we have any problems with and resolve to use dialogue to settle disputes in the years ahead.

May God give us the grace to stick by our new resolutions.
